Mauricio Pochettino had to face an extensive line of questioning about Messi, before Mbappe and his future at the club. In the last few hours, 'La Gazzetta dello Sport' informed about the meeting between the French forward and president Al-Khelaifi that kick-started the rumours.
Mbappe had reportedly told the Parisian club that he won't renew his contract as he wants to leave for Real Madrid, and he was met with a negative response. The player doesn't plan to force a move as he knows he will arrive on a free next year and, besides, he wouldn't look down on the opportunity of playing alongside the likes of Messi and Neymar for another season.
For that reason, head coach Pochettino wanted to play down the issue in the press conference previewing the third matchday of Ligue 1, in which Messi could make his debut. "I think Kylian is well, motivated, working hard to have a good season. Kylian is our player and I don't see him not being here this season".
Regarding information suggesting Mbappe had told the dressing room he would stay on this term, Pochettino said he himself isn't in the group: "No, I'm not in this group of players, our chats are all about football. It's clear that his contract runs for another year if he doesn't extend it, so he's a PSG player and we're happy with him and, for what he shows me, he's also happy with us."
