Inter Milan are on course to become champions of Serie A with a few games to spare. Alessandro Albotelli, the legendary player of Italian football, chatted with 'La Gazzetta dello Sport' and wanted to raise the status of Romelu Lukaku.
"At the start of the reason I thought he was an average player, but I was wrong. It's the way in which he plays the role of the striker", began the ex-player in his assessment.
"Lukaku is not only capable of scoring in any way against any opponent, but he is also a great leader who helps his team. For me, he is at the same level as Lewandowski, Haaland and Mbappe", he declared.
Albotelli acknowledged that playing in Seria A is a good test for any striker, however Lukaku has shown himself to be "up to the challenge".
"It's difficult to make comparisons between different eras. Let's say that I was one of the best strikers of my generation, in the same way that Lukaku is now."
