Racing Club's star player is shining brighter than ever, and the whole of Europe has started to pay attention to the latest big talent to emerge from Argentina.
After Lautaro Martinez's impressive performance in the first game of the Copa Libertadores, in which he bagged a hat-trick, he hasn't stopped talking to interviewers about his possible move to Inter, and his chances of getting into the World Cup squad.
"I would love to meet Messi, it would be amazing to play with him. He really catches the eye when you see him play or train, he's the best player in the world," Martinez stated, talking to 'TNT Sports'.
"I don't feel pressure because Sampaoli has come to watch me. It depends on the game, on the opponent, it doesn't bother me whether or not the coach is watching. I go onto the pitch to do my job, like I always do. I am eager for an international call up, but I'm being calm about it. I've learnt to enjoy the wait. If I went to the World Cup I'd love to face Sergio Ramos," the forward revealed.
"I know that until the middle of the year I will be at Racing, then afterwards we will see what decision is made. I've always done what I felt was right, I promised the president that I would renew my contract and increase the release clause. I did all that I said I would. I will play where I feel comfortable.
"I haven't signed a pre-contract agreement with anyone. There are a lot of interested clubs, but that's for my representative to deal with. I'm only thinking about Racing."
