FT: TOTTENHAM 3-2 SOUTHAMPTON. This poor performance will be long forgotten if Tottenham go on to win the FA Cup, but Southampton will feel very hard done by. Spurs led through a Stephens own goal but were outplayed until the moment Ings put Saints in front, Long having earlier equalised. Mourinho's men finally kicked on, and Lucas Moura's leveller was followed by a Son penalty.
  • 90'
Southampton, who dominated for so long, just cannot get a hold of the ball. Tottenham have the visitors right where they want them: in their own half
  • 90'
Defensive switch as Mourinho attempts to protect this narrow advantage. Sanchez replaces Sessegnon, with Tanganga moving out to left-back.

Gunn protests his innocence but goes into the book. It did look like a dive...
  • 86'
GOAAAAAAAALLLLLLLL!!!! Harry Kane usually takes these spot-kicks, but Son keeps his cool and tucks his finish inside the left-hand post. It's harsh on Southampton, but the pressure had been building.

GOAL!! Southampton have the lead they deserve! 2-1! It's Ings! Their form man has a clinical finish at the end of a rapid break, Tottenham's ambition from the corner punished ruthlessly.
  • 67'
Surprising change for Southampton! Boufal is replaced despite his impressive game. Armstrong comes in his place.
  • 61'
Alli replaces Ndombele. Vertonghen, the previous man replaced, is still sat in silence on the bench, apparently upset by his early substitution.

  • 55'
Free-kick for Spurs 30 yards out as Jan Bednarek is booked for tripping Lucas Moura who had turned him well with his back to goal.
  • 54'
Vertonghen has paid the price for his average defending as he is replaced by Fernandes. He goes off looking puzzled.
  • 49'
Great play again from Southampton. Ings picks the ball up on the left and runs across the area but cannot work an angle for a shot. They stay patient. Finally, a cross from the left finds Hojbjerg, who heads over. It was a good chance, but he looked to have pushed his marker. The VAR may well have intervened.
  • 48'
Tottenham are struggling to get the ball today. The visitors are still the better side this second half.
  • 46'
    We're back underway!
  • 45'
HT: Tottenham 1 - 1 Southampton. Southampton may have conceded first, but they will wonder how they are not in front at the break. Stephens' own goal interrupted 45 minutes of near dominance from the visitors, who belatedly equalised through Long. Ward-Prowse's injury put a dampener on an otherwise promising half.
  • 45'
Southampton move the ball nicely on the edge of the Tottenham area and it is finally Redmond who gets space 20 yards out to shoot. He leaves Winks behind but blazes over. It is a really poor effort in a great position.
  • 44'
Big challenge from Bednarek! A Southampton corner from the left is cleared, and Lucas Moura leads a counter. Southampton are getting men back, though, and Bednarek's well-timed tackle halts his opponent
  • 40'
James Ward-Prowse is replaced by Jannik Vestergaard and it looks like it's a serious injury. He had to be carried out on a stretcher.
  • 37'
Real concern for Ward-Prowse. Sessegnon challenges the Southampton right-back and catches him high on the leg. Ward-Prowse appears to be in considerable pain as he receives treatment, and Sessegnon is being comforted by Saints players.
  • 35'
Tottenham have not really got going. Their goal was a gift and they have otherwise been on the back foot throughout. Southampton are pushing again.
  • 34'
Lloris has given Southampton every opportunity to score with his poor handling, and his latest parry grants Long the simplest of finishes. Redmond twists in the area and shoots low, and Lloris pushes the ball out to Long.

    GOAAAAAAAALLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Shane Long!!!!
  • 32'
And again from Stephens! Lucas Moura links up with Sessegnon on the left, the Brazilian then dancing past Ward-Prowse towards goal. Stephens steps in to good effect.
  • 29'
Good work from Tanganga. Ings pounces on Bertrand's low cross in the Tottenham area, but Tanganga just muscles the striker off the ball, seeing it behind for a goal-kick.
  • 27'
And now corner for Spurs... But nothing comes of it. Saints have the possession and the occasions at the moment.
  • 26'
Corner for Saints down the right, Ward-Prowse swinging a low cross in that Vertonghen is forced to slice clear. Ward-Prowse gets two goes at delivering the corner, but neither effort is all that. But Spurs continue to look second best, and Ward-Prowse is usually the thorn in their side.
  • 23'
After a nervy stretch after the goal, Southampton are in control again. They must take their chances, though, as Tottenham look dangerous on the break, and another home goal would take this game away from Ralph Hasenhuttl's men.
  • 20'
SAVE! Lloris looking very shaky... Bertrand shoots from 20 yards, and Lloris saves but sends it straight back out. The ball just passes Long's toe, but that could have been a tap-in.
  • 19'
CROSSBAR! Huge, huge chance for Southampton! It is a stunning pass in behind from Ward-Prowse, and Lloris bizarrely opts to stay on his line. Ings gets to the edge of the six-yard box before hammering against the crossbar. Lloris stood little chance from that range, but Ings could not hit the target.
  • 18'
Spurs with the lead are now happy to sit back and invite Southampton pressure as they look to counter - no surprise there in a Jose Mourinho side. Saints though have not created much since falling behind.
  • 13'
Southampton have been by far the better side, but Winks feeds Sessegnon in behind, causing Stephens some real problems. A scrambling challenge sees the ball break to Ndombele, whose low wayward shot deflects off Stephens and into the net.

GOAAAAAAAALLLLLL!!! And it's an own goal from Stephens! So unfortunate for Southampton!
  • 10'
SAVE! Awkward from Lloris! Great play from Long on the left, who gets in behind Tanganga and tees up Redmond on the underlap with a smart backheel. Redmond's shot, cutting in from the left, is fairly feeble, but Lloris can only block with his legs. A cross is then gathered under pressure from Ward-Prowse.
  • 9'
Southampton are comfortable in possession until an ambitious Ward-Prowse pass is cut out. Lucas Moura breaks, but Aurier slows the attack. Spurs build again.
  • 6'
Southampton miss a huge chance!!! Vital interception from Lloris! Boufal skips away down the Southampton left, beats Tanganga for pace, and fizzes in a low cross. Lloris just gets there to divert the ball away from an onrushing Southampton attacker.
  • 3'
Southampton's attempts to enjoy some early possession are disrupted by Lucas Moura's pressing. It's started off a little scrappy.
  • 1'
    And we're off!
