They didn´t have much time to recover from their humbling Champions League defeat in the week, but when they time came, they delivered. After Dortmund won yesterday, Bayern simply had to win today to remain level on points with their great rivals, and win they did.
6-0 was an excellent way to amend the defeat in the week, Europe may have passed them for this season, but their Bundesliga title hopes are very much still alive, and to win in this manner showed their supporters the kind of heart that they felt they lacked against Liverpool on Wednesday night. James Rodriguez was the undisputed leader for bayern, scoring 3 goals to pile the pressure on Dortmund.
However, it was the Bundesliga´s top foreign goalscorer who opened the scoring for Bayern. Robert Lewandowski heading in after David Alaba´s cross. James's feast of goals began on the half hour mark, as he connected well with Leon Goretzka to further tighten Bayern's grip on the tie. 5 minutes later, the game was beyond doubt as Thiago connected with Kingsley Coman and the Frenchman slotted home from outside the box for 3-0.
Bayern didn't let up after half time, James hit the post with a good shot and contiuned his heroic night 5 minutes later, the first Hat-trick of the season was sealed 4 minutes later when James once again combined with Thomas Muller. Lewandowski then looked to grab a brace, but it was Alphonso Davies, who'd barely arrived onto the pitch, who finished off the afternoon for Bayern with his first goal for the Bavarian club.
There could have been more, but it's fair to say that Bayern are not willing to let their rivals take the Bundesliga of them this season.
