Arsenal's Tavares opened the scoring after just 3 minutes and Saka then doubled the home side's advantage from the penalty spot after a lengthy VAR review which included disallowing a goal but awarding a spot kick. Just two minutes after the penalty, Ronaldo answered back to keep United in the game.
