"The Berardi of years past is returning"

After a season in Serie B in which he led his Sassuolo to promotion, Domenico Berardi is facing the return to the top flight with the aim of returning to the national team as well.

The Neroverdi number 10 spoke about it in an interview with Sky Sport: "I watched the Azzurri's matches, the goal was to win them and we succeeded. With Gattuso I am sure that we could achieve some satisfaction, even if it will not be easy. I work here at Sassuolo and I try to do well to wear that shirt again."

On his bond with the club he added: "My story with Sassuolo goes back a long way: we trained in a center where today, in my opinion, no one goes anymore, then they decided to build a very beautiful new one. For me it is an honor to be a flag-bearer of this great club and this beautiful family, it makes me proud."

Finally, on the seasonal objectives he clarified: "We must think match by match. If we can understand what league we are in, we can reach our goal. Now I'm thinking about enjoying this season, I've experienced difficult moments, but the Berardi of years past is returning."
