A replacement for Sergio Busquets in the Barcelona midfield will eventually be needed. Therefore, the sporting director and his team are looking at various optins to replace him. One of those, Ruben Neves, could move to the Camp Nou in the January transfer window. Although the transfer is viable, 'Sport' reports that the club are not convinced.
The club are aware that Busquets' position is difficult to manage. He has started under practically all the coaches he has played under irregardless of who he has played alongside. His work is fundamental in Barcelona's style of play, which requires calmness, control and the defensive midfielder winning the ball back.
Financially speaking, his signing could be completed without problems. Neves' agent, Jorge Mendes, is talking to Wolves to try and help him leave. He has a very good relationship with all parties, something he is using to present this as an easy opportunity for Barcelona to sign the player without breaking the bank.
Joan Laporta, who has already learned plenty about looking after the club's finances, will have to talk to his experts and, more specifically, to Xavi to see whether Ruben Neves signing would be the best thing to do. It is better to get things right first time rather than have issues with contracts and payments later on.
