Arjen Robben, one of the century's best players, announced his retirement last summer and has since lived on the sidelines of the sport that has given him everything.
The former Bayern player has gotten nostalgic, and has even worked out with his former team-mates during the coronavirus pandemic.
Now, in a conversation with the Bavarian club's official media, he admitted that he misses football, although in return he is being able to enjoy his children more.
"At first, I didn't miss football at all. But then there's a phase when something clicks and you think: 'Hey, I'd still like to play a little more,'" he said of his first months after retirement.
"Every now and then I get that feeling. When the virus is over and football comes back, maybe I'll say... now! But of course, maybe that feeling will just always be there. In the end, I'm a sportsman," Robben insisted.
The former Oranje international admitted that he has not followed football as much as he would have liked. "I've missed a lot of games during this time because I've been busy. When you retire, nobody waits for you, but you need something to make it worth your while to wake up. And for me, they are my children," he continued.
Robben, however, denied that he had decided to play again, concluding: "I have nothing in mind."
