OFFICIAL: Former Arsenal's most expensive signing Pepe joins Villareal

"Spectacular footballer" for Villarreal. That is how the Spanish club describe Nicolas Pepe, who has signed until 30 June 2026. Villarreal have signed a winger who was Arsenal's most expensive signing and who arrives on a free transfer after playing for Trabzonspor last season, in a deal that has left no trace in the press.
The Yellow Submarine, who announced his arrival with a cute video emulating 'La Casa de Papel', which became 'La Casa de Pepe', said of the player that "his left foot is his dominant leg and he usually plays on the right side of the attack, although he can also play in any of the team's offensive positions".
"Villarreal CF have reached an agreement with Nicolas Pépé for the French-Ivorian player to play in yellow for the next two seasons, until 30th June 2026. The skilful new Submarine player, who is left-footed, usually plays on the right side of the attack, although he can also play anywhere in attack. Quick, agile, skilful in one-on-one situations and with a powerful shot. A real spectacle for the Submarine’s fans."
The player had two great seasons at Lille, which attracted the attention of Arsenal, who made a big investment to sign Pepe. After three seasons with the Gunners he left for OGC Nice from where he moved to Trabzonspors as a free agent where he played one season. Pepe comes to La Liga having played 323 games in his career, scoring 92 goals and providing 47 assists.
