"Nagelsmann? It'd be stupid to contradict the club, but..."

Bayern Munich shocked the footballing world when they announced the premature departure of head coach Julian Nagelsmann. He was quickly replaced by German manager Thomas Tuchel, but there have been varying reasons as to why the Bavarian club carried out said move.

Sporting Director Hasan Salihamidzic claimed that something wasn't working anymore between the manager and the squad at the Bundesliga giants, which has raised questions from some of the players, such as Kimmich, who didn't seem to think there was any problems brewing between the squad and their former coach.

However, Goretzka, when speaking to German television after Germany's win against Peru, let on that there may have been some people who were strongly opposed to Nagelsmann. "It'd be stupid to contradict my boss. I personally didn't have any problems with him, but I don't know how he was with the other players", he said.

"I saw Nagelsmann more than my family. When someone is suddenly not there anymore, it's a shock at first, but you've got to trust Bayern, who are trying to get the best for the team. That's how football works", he ended by saying.
