Carrasco's departure to China has not pleased Martinez hugely, with the former Wigan and Everton manager worried about the forward's fitness and form, especially considering the proximity of the World Cup in Russia.
He said: ''I'm more worried about Carrasco than about Witsel regarding the future. His position is closely intertwined with the demands of the competition,'' the Spaniard explained.
Martinez added: ''Due to his signing he had to play fewer games, he started a new training schedule and he took the opportunity to work on his knee problems that have almost disappeared.''
Also, the Belgian coach indicated that the pressure is mounting on Carrasco to perform at the World Cup. So far, Carrasco has had some moments of greatness in the CSL, but is not the influential footballer he was once tipped to be.
