FT: Germany 0 - 1 Mexico - And it's all over! They've held on! Mexico, who were a massive threat in the first half, spent a large portion of the second half holding onto their one goal lead. Germany pushed and pushed at the end, but they lacked that final ball, and Mexico have been able to endure the storm. A massive win for 'El Tri', who have shocked the favourites to move top of Group F.
  • 93'
Neuer gets a touch to it but it's cleared. The ball is lumped back in but Ochoa holds.

  • 69'

  • 45'
HT: Germany 0 - 1 Mexico - The referee calls time on what has been a fantastic half of football. Both sides have had chance after chance, but Mexico have had slightly more than Germany, and they made it count in the 35th minute through Hirving Lozano. Germany will no doubt return to the field with all guns blazing, but Mexico are really impressing here.
  • 44'
Mexico are coming close to making it two goals, and have continued to threaten Germany on numerous occasions. 'Die Mannschaft' are also dangerous, though, and this game could go either way.
  • 37'
Woodwork! Germany have ramped it up after the goal, and Toni Kroos is very close with a shot from a free-kick. He bends it over the wall, but a combination of Ochoa's big hands and the crossbar keep it out. Big save.

GOAL! MEXICO! LOZANO! 'El Tri' capitalise on their attacking threat and open the scoring! Germany are carved open once again, as Guardado and Hernandez found bags of space on the counter attack. Lozano shows composure in the box, cutting inside and burying it at the front post. It had been coming!
  • 24'
Kimmich sees yellow for a high boot on Herrera.
  • 22'
Kroos is the next to take a pop on goal, firing on the move from just outside the box. Again, though, it's easy for the keeper. With better finishing we could have had two or three goals here.
  • 20'
And another chance up the other end of the pitch! Timo Werner's shot in the box is collected easily, but he should have fed Draxler to his left, who would almost certainly have buried it.

  • 11'
Neuer drops to his right to make a stop as Herrera strikes from range. Danger at both ends here.
  • 9'
Layun lines up to take a free-kick around 35 yards out, but he scoops it well over the bar.

Germany have won each of their last seven World Cup opening games, with an aggregate score of 27-4. With 'Die Mannschaft' on the hunt for a second consecutive world title, it will be a trick task for Mexico to keep them out.

The headline is that both Manuel Neuer and Mesut Ozil start for Germany, overcoming their respective fitness problems in time for the opening game in Group F. Joachim Low also opts with Draxler over Marco Reus. Meanwhile, Javier Hernandez is fit enough to start, having missed a few friendlies. Him and Lozano form a dangerous forward line.

And here's Mexico's XI: Ochoa, Ayala, Salcedo, Layun, Moreno, Gallardo, Herrera, Guardado, Lozano, Vela, Hernandez.

Hello and welcome to our coverage of Germany vs Mexico! Group F kicks off with a clash between the two sides who are widely expected to occupy the group's top two spots, and the winner of this game would take a large step towards finishing first. Germany, who currently hold the world title, are clearly favourites, but with the likes of Lozano and Vela, don't count 'El Tri' out here.
