Johan Cruyff, the legacy continues

It is 3 years since the footballing world lost one of its greatest ever players and ambassadors of the 'beautiful game'. Johan Cruyff unfortunately lost his year long battle with lung cancer after it mestastasized to his brain. This led to a flurry of support from many football supporters and players, prompting Gary Lineker, the former England international to say "Football has lost a man who did more to make the beautiful game beautiful than anyone in history" 

Cruyff may have left us 3 years ago, but his legacy remains in our hearts. The legendary Ajax, Barcelona and Netherlands player was loved by so many for his on field brilliance as well as his off field kindness. This is why Barcelona have paid hommage to the Dutchman on the 3rd anniversary of his death, by organising many events in his name to remember Cruyff by.

This Sunday the 24th March, Barcelona wanted to gather many memmbers from both the male and female sides as they gave a selection of talks that nobody wanted to miss. This has led to some of the more recent followers of football to appreciate the beauty of Cruyff, both as a person and on the field. 

It is possible for them now to witness the ability that Cruyff had, with videos of him as a player, his life, his work ethic and his super human understanding of football. Xavier Vilajoana, a directive responsible for Barcelona, explained "we believe that it is of paramount importance that the youngest supporters will carry on the legacy of the great Johan Cruyff, by showing what he did for this club as well as for football."

Barcelona published an emotional video on it's social media with the title "Siempre presente" meaning "Always in our minds".

Meanwhile, Cruyff's son Jordi published a video in memory of his father with the caption "Three years since you left us but your presence remains in our hearts. To many you were an idol as a player, coach, visionary and a man who cared about others. For me you are, were and will always be my father and hero. Thank you for your love and the values ypu left."
