Joao Felix makes his 100th La Liga appearance

After his brilliant breakthrough in the top flight with Benfica in the 2018-19 season, Joao Felix landed in Spanish football thanks to Atletico Madrid who paid more than 120 million euros for him. Now, just over four years on from that transfer and on loan at FC Barcelona, the Portuguese international has reached 100 La Liga appearances.
A figure that, on a personal level, has been reached in the best moment for several months for Joao, who seems to have recovered his joy and magic with the 'Cules'. Against Mallorca, the player from Viseu reached such a milestone in a competition in which he has offered more than acceptable figures despite the difficulties he experienced at times at the 'Colchoneros', with whom he has played the majority of these 100 games.
In his 99 previous league games, the 'Menino de Ouro' scored a total of 25 goals (0.25 per game) and provided his teammates with 14 assists (0.14 average). During his first season in Spain (2019-20), Joao Felix managed to score 6 goals and provide 1 assist in the 1,755 minutes he accumulated during the 27 league games he played.
After a difficult first season, the Portuguese player had one of his best years in the 2020-21 season. With a great first half of the season, Joao finished with 7 goals and 5 assists to win the competition. On statistical terms, the Portuguese maintained his form with 8 goals and 4 assists in the 2021-22 season, although his performance and clashes with Diego Simeone were a warning of what was to come. In the 2022-23 campaign, Joao Felix scored 3 goals and provided 3 assists in the 14 games (649 minutes) he played before leaving on loan to Chelsea in the winter.
Joao Felix has managed to score 1 goal (against Betis) and provide one assist (against Celta) in the three La Liga games he had played for FC Barcelona so far in the 2023-24 campaign, before his 100th appearance against Mallorca.
Looking beyond his individual performances and focusing on the balance of the matches, we can see that his figures are more than positive. Of the 99 matches played in the league tournament, Joao Felix ended up winning 57 of them (57.58% success rate), with 25 draws (25.25%) and 17 defeats (17.17%).
If we look only at those matches in which he scores and/or assists, his results are even better. Joao Felix has been directly involved in at least one goal in 28 of 99 games up to Tuesday's game against Mallorca, winning 23 of those matches (82.14%).
The only five games in which the former Benfica man was involved in a goal and did not win ended in three draws and two defeats. The draws came against Sevilla (2-2 in the 2019-20 campaign), Real Sociedad (2-2 in the 2021-22 campaign) and Espanyol (1-1 in the 2022-23 season), while the defeats came against Granada (2-1 in the 2021-22) and Cadiz (3-2 in the 2022-23 campaign).
