It is the news we have all been waiting for: Joao Felix is now a Chelsea player. The London side announced the signing of the Atletico Madrid man on their social media platforms on Wednesday.
The move comes after growing speculation, with the player recently growing out of favour with manager Diego Simeone. He will now play out the rest of the season at Chelsea, where he will hope for more game time in a side who are currently going through a poor run of form. He travelled to London on Tuesday to complete the medical and officially sign for the side.
It was reported by Fabrizio Romano that The Blues will take care of his wage bill for the rest of the season, as well as paying his Atletico €11 million for the privilege. This deal is only for the rest of the current campaign, and Joao is set to return to the Madrid side once the 2022-23 season ends. Faced with six months apart, his parent side dedicated a few words to him before starting this next chapter, and "wish him the best of luck" for his "new professional challenge".

Graham Potter will hope he will have an immediate impact on the side, who are currently sat in 10th place in the Premier League, with just one win in their last seven games in all competitions.
The 23 year old Portuguese star was billed to be the next big thing for Atletico, and he has performed at times, getting 34 goals in 131 Atletico games overall, but manager Diego Simeone has opted to drop the star in recent times, which could have been the trigger for his move in search of more regular first-team football.
This does not mark the end of Joao's spell in Spain, though, as he has also extended his contract with the Madrid side up until 2027. As for this campaign, it is rumoured that the Spanish giants already have his replacement lined up, as Barcelona's Memphis Depay is thought to be within a hairs width of signing.
