Alvaro Morata grabbed the only goal as Chelsea grabbed the three points, though pundit Glenn Hoddle thought Maurizio Sarri's side struggled against an organised Vidi defence.
Speaking on 'BT Sport', he remarked: "Vidi were excellent. Chelsea limped over the line. They weren't really at it.
"They couldn't break Vidi down but it was a beautiful ball from Cesc Fabregas and Morata finished it nicely.
Michael Owen also commented on Morata's game: "He's very frustrated and shaking his head.
"He got booked for dissent and his game was average but he's got a cracking goal in the end."
