France: 'Les Bleus' will play a strong side as they continue their preparations for the World Cup. Left-back Benjamin Mendy could be given his first 90 minutes since September as he looks to ensure he is in peak condition for the tournament. Raphael Varane should start after being given an extended break due to his Champions League exertions.
USA: Dave Sarachan has named a youthful squad for the game, though Kenny Saief was forced to withdraw due to a leg injury. Promising attacking duo Timothy Weah and Josh Sargent could be given just their fourth and third caps respectively for their country as Sarachan keeps one eye on the future.
France boss Didier Deschamps:
"The composition [of the team] against the United States will be close to the one that starts the World Cup but not necessarily the same.
"Competition is for everyone. The choices were difficult for the squad, it's the same for the [starting] 11. It's high competition, players are used to it. The competition concerns the whole group.
"Everything is going well. A significant workload was carried out this week with double sessions.
"We can always do better but we must above all keep hindering the opponent. We need to progress in efficiency and in the offensive to defensive transition. Regarding the transition from defence to attack, we are good."
USA boss Dave Sarachan:
"My approach is pretty simple. It's the same as it was when I started after Trinidad with Portugal, which -- not that the rankings mean everything -- was third in the FIFA rankings -- of course, they were missing some players.
"When you step on the field, you need to play with confidence, have no fear and understand that you're going up against an opponent that will punish you for mistakes.
"We learned that against Ireland -- fair result would have been 1-1 -- but we fell asleep, got a little lazy and lost sight of some of the details to close out a match.
"All of these games are a phenomenal learning experience for this group of young players."
