Serbia
Although there were no real international heavyweights in their qualifying group, Serbia successfully saw off Ireland, Austria, Wales, Georgia and Moldova to top the group with 21 points.
Iceland
After an incredible Euro 2016 in France, Iceland's footballing journey will now see them compete at their first ever world Cup. The Icelandics defied the doubters to finish top of a qualifying group that included Croatia, Ukraine, Turkey, Finland and Kosovo, accruing 22 points in the process..
Panama
Another team set for their World Cup debut. The Panamanians made it to the tournament after finishing above both the USA and Honduras in qualifying, though the draw against the latter which sent Panama to the tournament was controversial to say the least.
Peru
Peru were the final team to claim their place in Russia following their 2-0 win over New Zealand in an intercontinental play-off. Next summer's tournament will be Peru's first since 1982 after they successfully navigated a tricky South American qualifying group to finish ahead of the likes of Copa America champions Chile and Ecuador.
Sweden
Facing something of a Group of Death alongside France and Holland and unable to call upon talismanic striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, few would have backed the Swedes to qualify. However, after claiming second spot in the group before beating Italy over two legs in a play-off, no-one can say they don't deserve their place.
