Some managers have criticised the five changes during a match. However, Simeone has publically defended that there are two more subs than there normally are in a match.
"Being able to make fives subs gives the players more chance to play. The people that enjoy the game need to see more options. With just three changes, it's clear that many players on the bench don't get the chance to play. We're now discovering something new", he analysed before the Levante match.
Simeone is clear: it is an asset to football lovers: "People will see if it's convenient or not, I think for the show there are more fresh people".
He also valued the water breaks, although in this case, he doesn't always think they are necessary. "It's good if the temperature's high. When you play at night, I don't think this situation arises. I don't know if it has to be done all the time or if it's up to the referee... The other day we stopped in Pamplona and it was cold. I don't know if it's compulsory", he said.
Simeone was asked about how he manages playing every 72 hours. "The best plan is to win. That's the most important part of this process. All visions are always optimistic and positive".
Levante will be Atletico's next opponents and Simeone doesn't trust Paco Lopez's team at all, even they don't have anything at stake. "In the games they've played they've always had opponents who played a lot and they responded very well. It will be tough. They have fast players, some who are strong in the air. We'll need to take the game in the direction we want it to go," he said.
Incidentally, he talked about the strikeforce. "The team needs Costa and he needs the team. Hopefully, we can continue as we have started after the break. Joao Felix is a different player, I have no doubt that he will grow as a footballer," he emphasised.
If he gets one more win, Simeone will equal Aragonés in La Liga. "I didn't know, I don't stop to look at those things. My job now is just to win, work, and prepare to improve the next game," he concluded.
