Ajax are preparing for a 'final auction' for their captain Matthijs de Ligt. De Ligt's superb season for the Eredevisie champions has 5 of Europe's biggest clubs vying for his services and now it seems Ajax will sell to the highest bidder.

5 of Europe's biggest clubs are looking to sign Matthijs de Ligt from Ajax in the summer. Liverpool, Manchester United, Barcelona, Juventus and PSG are rumoured to be the 5 teams looking to sign the highly rated young Dutch centre back.

According to the Spanish press, and in particular, Sport, who suggested Ajax are preparing for a 'final auction', saying there have been offers from the 5 sides previously mentioned.

It then goes on to say that de Ligt must make his decision as to where he wants to go in the next week as both Ajax and his potential suitors are looking to sort out a deal.

De Ligt has become one of the most promising and talented young players in world football, and it is not a surprise that 5 of the World's biggest clubs are looking to sign him this summer.

He has proved himself at the highest level having thrived for the Netherlands and for Ajax in the Champions League.

Liverpool have emerged as genunine contenders to sign De Ligt as they have Virgil Van Dijk in their ranks and have of course just secured the Champions League title.

Manchester United appear more desperate for a defender to come in and totally reorganise what has been a disastrous season, with the side lacking a defensive leader.

De Ligt is likely to be in action for the Netherlands tonight against Portugal in the Nations League Semi-Finals.
