Bad news. 'AS' reports that Man City, Napoli and Roma will not let Rodri Hernandez, Ferran Torres, Fabian Ruiz and Borja Mayoral go to the Olympic Games with the Spanish national team.
Despite the fact Spanish clubs are forced to release their players for the Olympics, foreign clubs do not have to as it is not part of the FIFA International window.
The cited media outlet adds that despite the fact the Spanish FA have been negotiating with the three clubs for weeks, none of them have given in. That means they will not be able to be part of Luis de la Fuente's squad.
Apparently, the quartet were very keen on going to the Olympic Games in Tokyo and De la Fuente and spoken to them about the possibility of going more than a month ago. However, that will be no longer possible.
The 18 man list was due to be released on Monday 28th June, but it will now be on Tuesday 29th to avoid a clash with the last 16 game between Spain and Croatia.
