"Barca tried to sign Neymar, but we rejected it"

One of the summer's transfer stories ended before it had even begun. Neymar renewed his contract with Paris Saint-Germain and with it ended all the rumours of a possible return to his former club - a club that wanted him back.
Nasser Al-Khelaifi, PSG's president, confirmed that the Catalan side gave their best shot at signing Neymar before his contract renewal was eventually made offcial.
"Barcelona tried to sign up utill the end. Obviously, we rejected it. I think their club has economic problems, but that's not our business", Al-Khelaifi said in an interview to 'L'Equipe'.
In addition, the owner of the French side assured that "it wasn't difficult to reach an agreement with Neymar", who will stay at PSG until 2025.
The Brazilian star wasn't all that Al-Khelaifi spoke about in the interview. He was particulalry unequivocal when speaking about Mbappe, who he said the club would neither sell him nor let him go on a free.
He also spoke about Pochettino, who he said never had any intention of leaving the club. "He has still has three years left on his contract, he's our manager. No one will split us up."
