26th December, key day for talks between Mourinho and Portugal

The Portuguese FA are not giving up on Jose Mourinho. They are very excited about the potential of the players in the Portuguese national team and they are convinced they can achieve great things with the former Real Madrid man.
Fernando Gomes, president of the Portuguese FA and the Roma coach will meet on 26th December to lay their cards down on the table, 'A Bola' reports. This meeting will be key to see how negotiations go.
Gomes really wants him, but it will not be easy. Mourinho has a contract at Roma until 2024. Then, Gomes will have to look for a way of getting him to leave the Italian side or for them to allow him to be Roma and Portugal boss at the same time.
If the Portuguese took over as national team coach, he would have a difficult situation to deal with. Cristiano Ronaldo's future at Portugal is up in the air and the new coach will have to decide whether to prioritise the youngsters or whether to keep playing Ronaldo.
