This summer was always going to be an exciting and interesting one from the minute that Manchester City learned they could face a ban from the Champions League for two seasons. Throw in the COVID-19 pandemic, clubs playing without fans and the almost certainty of that going into next season and there is a lot to think about for those who are looking to spend or sell.
So, what are the big moves that could take place this summer?
What Will Manchester City Do?
With no Champions League football, Manchester City have seen a decrease in their pulling power. On top of that, they have a couple of players looking to get out of the club, while more may be interested in a move to seek opportunities with clubs that do have Champions League football.
Kyle Walker has had his off-field problems for a while now and hasn’t really slotted into the City team as he would have liked. If there is a player desperate for a new club to get his head back into gear then it is Walker.
Inter Milan are rumoured to be interested in him, and a move to Europe could be what Walker needs to get back on track.
Leroy Sane is an incredibly talented young player, but for a number of different reasons, he has really struggled to get going with City. At just 24 there is plenty left in the tank, and he will no doubt attract the attention of many big clubs in Europe.
Werner to Chelsea Already Completed
Despite the summer transfer window not being open yet, Timo Werner has been talked about a lot. First he was heading to Liverpool and then Chelsea came in and stole him from them. Liverpool have far bigger ambitions than Chelsea and are set to win the Premier League this season, so his decision must be down to game time and the fact that he will be the number one choice at Chelsea.
He’e certainly going to improve them if his German form comes with him and is a huge addition for Frank Lampard next season. Expect plenty of talk surrounding him to be the golden boot when odds become available and there will no doubt be plenty of betting promos surrounding him and the goals he hopes to score.
Mbappe & Mane in Blockbuster Deal?
Over the past few days, there has been a lot spoken about surrounding Kylian Mbappe moving from PSG to Liverpool. This would cost The Reds a huge amount of money, but not only that, the talk is that they would have to give up one of their most prized assets.
The rumours suggest Sadio Mane would have to go the other way and join PSG for the move to happen, and if it does then this would no doubt be the blockbuster move of the summer.
