Since Darren Moore's appointment as interim coach at West Brom four games ago, the 'Baggies' have enjoyed an unbeaten run with wins against Manchester United and Newcastle.
The bottom-of-the-league side are now within touching distance of Premier League safety, just five points adrift with two fixtures still to play, if they can muster up victories against Spurs and Crystal Palace.
Newcastle had a chance at equalising, but Kenedy failed to spot unmarked forward Dwight Gayle and took a shot that met the post. Likewise, West Brom's Jake Livermore lost his angle on goal and missed out on doubling their lead.
The second half was largely uneventful aside from a childish kick on Craig Dawson from Islam Slimani that will most likely earn him a three-match ban upon review, thereby ending his loan season at Newcastle from Leicester.
Despite the uphill battle faced by West Brom, Darren Moore must be commended for engineering a respectable end to their campaign this season.
