Scoring goals is the greatest challenge to overcome for Vinicius Junior. He knows this, has recognised it on several occasions, and is working on it to gradually improve this aspect of his game. So far this season he is on the right track: he has scored two goals in three games for Real Madrid.
But more than the number of goals he scores, what matters is that he scores. And Real Madrid know that all too well. The statistics don't lie: whenever 'Vini' scores a goal, Madrid win the game.
They have done so in the 11 matches in which he has scored one goal. Real Valladolid -twice-, Melilla, Leganés, Alavés, Osasuna, Brujas, Zaragoza, Barcelona, Mallorca and Levante are the teams that suffered a goal against Vinicius. Madrid won in all of them.
The international break has paused his good streak. For the first time since his signing, Vinicius accumulated two consecutive days with a goal (Valladolid and Levante).
Despite not being a regular in Zidane's team, 'Vini' has responded well when the coach has put his trust in him, both at the start and as a substitute after coming off the bench. He knows that, with Eden Hazard's injury, it's his year and he doesn't want to waste it.
