Withhout their most prestigious record, an unbeaten league season, Barcelona can still target some of their more modest goals to inject a little bit of happiness into the remainder of their season.
According to official stats, Barca are only two goals away from breaking the 6,000 goal barrier in La Liga. Up until now, perhaps unsurprisingly, the only team to beat this mark is Real Madrid.
In Europe, specifically in England, we find the only other teams who have achieved this mark. Manchester United (6,447), Aston Villa (6,608,) Liverpool (6,779), Arsenal (6,792) and Everton (6,973) are the only other teams who stand above the Spanish sides.
And on their return to League action, Barcelona can also overtake Real Madrid in another historical catergory. Their all time goal difference stands at +2,855 compared to +2,857 for their eternal rivals.
If they can beat Sociedad by three or more and results go their way elsewhere then Barcelona would end the season surpassing two significant markers and save themselves some grace after the disappointment against Levante.
