Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo fought to become the best player in the world for many years. Now, both footballers have made way for Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland.
Real Madrid were after Mbappe and, in order for him to stay at PSG, the club renewed him and they put in big money for him. 'Forbes' revealed the list of the best paid players in the world and Mbappe is top of it after the new contract he signed.
Kylian Mbappe is just above Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. The Frenchman receives 131 million euros a year compared to the 123 of his teammate and the 102 the Portuguese earns at Man Utd.
They are the three best paid players in the world. The next in the list is Neymar, also at PSG, with 89 million euros. It is proof that the French club have the most financial power to be able to pay their stars.
If we go down to fifth place, we find Salah, who gets 54 million euros from Liverpool. Erling Haaland is sixth at 40 million euros, although this figure could be deceptive. The 'Daily Mail' recently reported that, including bonuses, he is earning a million euros a week and that he could get 50 million euros a year if he continues with his goalscoring form.
Robert Lewandowski is seventh in the table. In order to get him to the Camp Nou, Barca promised him 35 million a year. Hazard of Real Madrid is next with 31 million a year and Iniesta is next with 30. Kevin de Bruyne completes the top 10 with 29 million.
