The first half was hard-fought. Arteta's team started the game with a lot of intensity making it clear that they wanted to have control and possession of the ball. Spurs were defending at the back waiting to pull off a good counter attack.
The Gunners took the lead in style. Thomas Partey, in the 19th minute, surprised everyone with a banger. Saka received the ball on the right flank and found Partey on the edge of the box. The midfielder's first-time shot into the top corner beat Lloris to score the opening goal.
However, Tottenham did not give up and managed to equalise. In the 28th minute, 'Cuti' Romero tackled Richarlison inside the box and the referee awarded a penalty for the visitors. Kane, from the penalty spot, beat Ramsdale with a shot down the middle to score the equaliser.
The second half started in the best possible way for the home team. Arsenal took the lead again in the 48th minute with a goal from Gabriel Jesus. Saka shot inside the box and Lloris made a save, but the goalkeeper failed to catch the ball. Jesus, who was in the right place, made the most of the Frenchman's mistake and pushed the ball into the net.
Then, 12 minutes later, another bad news came for Tottenham. Emerson Royal was sent off for a foul on Martinelli. If it was already difficult to come back against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, they were forced to try to do it with 10 players.
Five minutes later, a 10-man Tottenham side received a hard blow due to Arsenal's third goal. Martinelli drove the ball on the edge of the box and found Xhaka. The midfielder beat Lloris with a cross-shot to extend the lead.
