Spain: 'La Roja' are expected to keep faith with goalkeeper David De Gea, despite growing calls to drop him and replace him with Kepa Arrizabalaga. Sergio Busquets is just a booking away form a suspension, but he is expected to start regarless, as Spain look to secure a place in the last eight.
Russia: The hosts will be without Igor Smolinkov after he was sent off against Uruguay, meaning Mario Fernandes should retake his place at right-back. Aleksandr Golovin, Fedor Smolov and Yuri Gazinsky all go into the game walking a disciplinary tightrope.
Spain boss Fernando Hierro:
"We have a clear plan in mind. We know Russia's qualities but we have faith in our work and we have players that anyone of them can really make a difference.''
"We have analysed them, we are doing everything we can. The team have trained extremely well, my players are fit physically and mentally.''
"We have strengths and weaknesses like any team. We've had to face difficult situations, we were twice losing against Portugal and we managed to react. We had a similar situation against Morocco.''
"Tomorrow we start a new tournament. Often the better team is the one that goes back home. We need to believe in ourselves."
Russia boss Stanislav Cherchesov:
"Spain play football that is clear to us. It's difficult to find ways to deal with it but we'll try.
"We've played against (former Spain head coach) Julen Lopetegui's men and now we can see changes under Fernando Hierro. I won't go into detail but the team plays differently.
"It's clear that this is a play-off, a life or death match, only one team can go through.
"It's not a pressure but there is a responsibility, Spain feels it and Russia feels it. If you lose you're out."
