Southgate is Ratcliffe's favourite to replace Ten Hag at Man Utd

Changes have been expected at Manchester United since British millionaire Jim Ratcliffe's arrival at Old Trafford. Both squad and board changes are likely to take place in the coming months.

Dutch manager Erik ten Hag is under pressure after some poor results this season but he has not yet been sacked because he has led the Red Devils to the semi-finals of the FA Cup and can still fight for European places.

However, his future is up in the air and he could be replaced by a coach who can return United to their winning ways. So much so that the board, including Jim Ratcliffe, is considering some coaching replacements for next campaign.

According to 'Sky Sports', England manager Gareth Southgate is the favourite to take the reins at Manchester United but his decision remains to be seen. He has been coaching his national team since the 2016/17 season and is currently focused on the Euros in Germany.

The 53-year-old already has Premier League experience as a player having played for Crystal Palace, Aston Villa and Middlesbrough and coaching a Big Six club could become a new professional challenge.
