Southampton and Wolves 'champions' after excluding ESL clubs

Southampton and Wolves have claimed they are champions of the 2014-15 and 2018-19 Premier Leagues, respectively. That is because the clubs above them are all part of the European Super League. Watford have done the same with the 2018/19 FA Cup after being beaten 6-0 by Man City in the final.

Non Big Six clubs are once again showing their anger at the European Super League plans. Leeds United did it in the warm up with "Earn it!" T-shirts ahead of Monday's game with Liverpool and now Southampton and Wolves have hit out at the ESL.

Wolves published a tweet saying "It's probably too late for a parade." It included a screenshot of the 2018/19 Premier League season and they claimed they were the champions.

Southampton responded to the tweet, jokingly congratulated them and then said: "On behalf of the 2014/15 champions, we would like to extend our congratulations to you."

They were referring to the fact that if you exclude the Big Six clubs, they would have finished top of the league in those seasons.
