The Brazilian had endured a frustrating start to the season, scoring just once in the Premier League ahead of Saturday's game, but his all-action display gave onlookers a timely reminder of just what he is capable of.
However, with Sergio Aguero now back fit, it is unlikely that Jesus will keep his starting role in the coming weeks despite his heroics against the 'Toffees'.
Nevertheless, speaking in his role as a pundit on Match of the Day, Shearer was keen to stress how much he rates Jesus.
"I'm a big fan of his. I like the way he plays, his aggression. He's got a lot to his game. He makes it very difficult for defenders in between the centre-halves. Centre-halves hate that," he enthused.
"The goal is a brilliant finish and a superb run. He slots it past Pickford with superb confidence.
"Every time he goes out onto the pitch he knows he has to perform because he's got Aguero on the bench."
Jesus started life at City like a house on fire, netting seven goals in his first 11 games, before eventually finishing his debut season in England with a more than respectable 17 in 42 in all competitions.
