UEFA and the ECA have come to a first understanding which the station SER has had access to. The conclusion is the following: leagues will be played, or at least resumed, in July, while the Champions and Europa League will continue in August.
The reason is that the coronavirus crisis is expected to have passed by then and football will be able to return albeit with certain modifications: which ones? Played behind closed doors or even changing the European competition format.
In this line, the two European bodies aren't ruling out there being a radical overhaul of how the Champions League and Europa League will end. On the table, there are these 2 ideas: having a one-off match and playing it at a neutral venue. Everything to finish as soon as possible.
And what do UEFA and the ECA opine on how the remainder of the leagues will be played? They also have in mind them being behind closed doors. All that is left is for there to be a meeting with the clubs and the bosses of each domestic competition to clean up the consensus.
