Sancho bucked the trend last year when he made the move from the Manchester City's Under 18 side to Borussia Dortmund. It is usualluy the case that the Premier League attracts talented and promising players from across Europe, however it is rare for young British players to leave the country, especially given the ever-increasing wealth in the English game.
Dortmund bought the 17-year-old for £10m in 2017, and while it would appear to be a big step into the unknown for such a young player to move from an English youth team to a foreign first team, Sancho has revealed that stars Gotze and Aubameyang were helpful in easing his transition.
Speaking with 'The Mirror', the forward praised Aubameyang's friendly character. "He used to help me after training," he revealed. "We used to play competitions where whoever scored the least goals had to clean boots. It was just banter really. He's a nice person."
He also said that Gotze has expressed faith in his abilities. "He has spoken to me a lot," Sancho stated. "He thinks I'm a really good player, wants me to do well and express myself because he wants me to stay in the team."
He went on to urge other young English players to follow in his footsteps and venture outside of the UK.
"I just want to show other young kids growing up that it is not about just staying in England, getting loans. Explore. If you want to play you have to do what you've got to do. Make sacrifices."
