Egypt's campaign didn't go to plan, in part down to star-forward Salah's shoulder injury, and they didn't manage to win a single game. A painful loss to Uruguay was followed by defeats to Russia and Saudi Arabia, and Hector Cuper's side therefore finished bottom of their group on 0 points.
Speaking to 'beIN Sports', Salah has issued an apology to the fans, saying he understands how they feel. "We want to apologise to all the Egyptian fans, who came to support us here in the three matches," he stated.
"I know it is difficult for them, like us."
However, he promised that they would return stronger thanks to the experience gained in Russia. "Just want to say that Egypt reached the World Cup after 28 years, some players here do not have the required experience," he explained. "Thanks to all of them, and we will back again in 2022."
