Former Bochum forward Janni Serra's 91st minute header was enough to earn Holstein Kiel a point against Bochum.
Speaking to the press after the game, VfL manager Robin Dutt told the club's official website that he could live with just the one point.
"It was a very intense game. In terms of offensive capability, Kiel were the hardest team that we’ve come up against this year.
"They were very strong going forward, yet took a lot of risks in defence. This resulted in us having a lot of chances.
Bochum took the lead twice, however failed to see the game out and take all three points.
"Kiel did this throughout and we were often in danger whenever there was a turnover in play. But we missed a lot of chances.
"We were fortunate to take the lead at 2:1, as Kiel had put us under a lot of pressure."
Tom Weilandt scored against his former club, however the draw was a fair result.
"Ultimately, it feels like we’ve dropped two points, but you’ve got to be fair, Kiel put us under a lot of pressure and had some high quality opportunities at the end to earn the point.
"To concede so close to the end is not nice, but at the end of the day we can live with a point", he added.
VfL Bochum face Dynamo Dresden at home on Tuesday.
