This season, De Ligt played 55 matches for the club that surprised European football - Ajax. The player has been at the Amsterdam club his whole career, rising up through the ranks and becoming a professional at the age of just 15. Now, aged 19, he has reached the coveted title of team captain.
Ajax have shone this season, making great leaps in the Champions League. Also, Ten Hag's players have lifted the league trophy. Their good results have put a vast majority of the squad on the radar's of many of Europe's big clubs and De Ligt could be one of the biggest signings of the summer.
