"We have to be together. Not only the players, but also the board. When one side does not want to fight, there aren't any disputes," Pique said in the interview area after Barca's win in Getafe.
Words which were the beginning of a warning to the upper echelons at the Camp Nou. "We know the club and the newspapers and who writes the articles despite the fact someone else signs them. We want to win titles and we hope no one causes fights which don't exist," the Barca central defender commented.
This statement reflected the poor relationship there is between the players and the board at the moment.
A fact which has recently come to light because of certain reports in the Catalan press, but especially an article published in 'Mundo Deportivo'.
That report spoke about the power the players have over the club and described the words in which the footballers had supposed taken over the club in many senses.
'Mundo Deportivo' talked about some requests made by the players and the power they had to make decisions when the club asked them about certain sporting issues.
One topic in particular was Neymar's failed signing this summer, which was apparently almost a demand.
On the Neymar issue, Messi had already told 'Sport' in an interview that the board maybe "didn't do everything possible" to re-sign the Brazilian.
All of this seems to have gone done badly with the players and Pique made it clear after the triumph at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez.
Now we will have to see whether this conflict calms down with time and if the team keeps winning or whether it turns into something much more serious.
