Ortega set to stay at Man City as Trabzonspor opt for Onana

The 32-year-old goalkeeper had been strongly linked with Trabzonspor, but the Super Lig side have opted to complete a deal for Manchester United's Andre Onana instead.
Ortega, who joined City from Arminia Bielefeld in 2022, has largely operated as Ederson's deputy but has impressed whenever called upon, particularly in domestic cup competitions. His future had been the subject of speculation in recent weeks amid reports of interest from abroad.
Trabzonspor were among the clubs exploring a move, but turned their attention to Onana after reaching an agreement with United for the Cameroon international. That decision effectively ended the prospect of Ortega leaving the Etihad Stadium in the current window.
City are understood to be content with the German staying, as Pep Guardiola values him as reliable cover and an experienced figure within the squad. With the German's contract situation still to be resolved long-term, his future could again come under review once the January window opens.
