Real Madrid is planning to get Odegaard back, but not yet. The young Norwegian footballer will be able to continue borrowing his talents to the Basque team next season.
According to the information of the newspaper 'AS', Real Madrid decided with the player to continue in Real Sociedad until at least the 30th of June of 2021. Real Madrid understands the footballer's wish, as he doesn't want to stop the last year's progress.
Odegaard is an indispensable piece for Real Sociedad, and he's really had his breakthrough this season. With seven goals and eight assists, he has surpassed all of Real Madrid's attackers except for Benzema.
But Florentino Perez's team has plenty of players in Odegaard's place and there will be no moves this summer either. Zinedine Zidane has no go-to starting line-up, which is why he would not be guaranteed a place in the team.
His contract expires at the end of this month, which is why it will now be extended due to the exceptional situation that football is experiencing, so both Real and Madrid will have to negotiate to keep the conditions currently agreed upon. The Basque club paid two million and is taking over the contract.
If there are no serious injuries or surprises, Odegaard will continue wearing Real Sociedad's colours.
