It seems that Martin Odegaard's loan move to Arsenal is a done deal. Mikel Arteta himself confessed it publicly: "Probably, I will receive some phone calls and see where we are with the negotiation".
But some are already beginning to doubt the arrival of the Norwegian player. For example, former Gunner Alan Smith: "He's had problems developing at Real Madrid and the last thing Arsenal want is to bring in someone who can't offer anything".
"You think of Denis Suarez, who came to the club and physically wasn't ready and then got injured... It could be just as embarrassing," he added.
The former Arsenal striker continued during his time on 'Stadium AStro': "In the end, that was a bit embarrassing, so I hope they do their homework on Odegaard. He's a young player who went to Real Madrid, a lot is expected of him and, as is often the case, it doesn't materialise."
"They are looking for more creativity. Smith Rowe has provided that. There was also talk that Christian Eriksen could be a target. So it's that type of player that can make a difference. I don't expect Odegaard to start a lot of games, it would be someone who would come in and out. A replacement," he concluded.
