Gaizka Garitano has managed to create a very strong Athletic Bilbao defence, who, together with Atletico Madrid, have conceded the least amount of goals in La Liga so far this season: just four goals in eight matches.
Athletic Bilbao have Unai Simon to thank largely for that. He has conceded just three goals in seven matches. That is to say, the Basque keeper concedes an average of 0.43 goals per game, the lowest goal per game ratio in the league.
After him is Jan Oblak. The Slovenian, who is looking to make history with his umpteenth consecutive Zamora trophy (awarded to the keeper with the lowest goal per game ratio at the end of the season), has an average pof 0.5 goals up to now.
In third position is Ruben Martinez of Osasuna. He has conceded seven times in eight matches (0.88). Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, meanwhile, has picked the ball out of his net on 10 occasions and has a ratio of 1.25 goals conceded per match.
