Napoli's president Aurelio de Laurentiis and their head coach Carlo Ancelotti are still looking to bolster their defensive ranks with new faces.
Matteo Darmian was one of the targets that the club had earmarked and they are now working hard to make the deal happen. According to 'Corriere del Mezzogiorno', the Italian club has already got in contact with Man Utd.
The full-back's contract with the 'Red Devils' will expire at the end of season, but Ancelotti and co. are not prepared to wait that long to bring him in. They want the player as soon as possible and the only way of doing that is a permanent deal, because the Manchester club will not accept a loan move with an option to buy clause.
According to the Italian newspaper, the initial fee floated in the talks was €18 million. As far as the player himself is concerned, he would receive €3.5 million per season.
