After testifying in the Dortmund bomb attack trial on Monday, the centre-back arrived in the Spanish city to complete his move to the La Liga side which looks set to be announced in a matter of hours.
Reports emerged early on Tuesday linking Bartra with a move to Betis but there were conflicting accounts about the type of deal in place. 'Mundo Deportivo' suggested it would be a loan deal with a purchase option in summer meanwhile the Sevillian outlet 'Estadio Deportivo' claimed it would be a permanent contract until 2022.
Whichever way the transfer falls, one thing is clear that the former Barcelona player will be wearing a Betis shirt soon after his public arrival at the airport. It will be a good signing for Quique Setien, who had asked the board to bring in defensive reinforcements.
In addition, the move should suit Bartra who is looking for more first-team opportunities to secure his place in Spain's World Cup squad for Russia after only making eight Bundesliga appearances for Borussia Dortmund this year, following that bomb attack during the 2016-17 season.
