Manchester United defender Eric Bailly has been ruled out of Ivory Coast's Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) campaign due to medial knee ligament damage, the Premier League club have confirmed.
Bailly was injured during Manchester United's 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Old Trafford in a rare start for the Ivorian, leaving Manchester United almost certain to miss out on Champions League football despite the last two matches of the season being against relegated Huddersfield and relegation bound Cardiff CIty.
Bailly took a nasty tumble in a challenge with Marcos Alonso, with the Ivorian giving a foul away in the process, with the stretcher coming on, before he eventualty gingerly walked off the field.
