Madrid's five options to replace Ancelotti

We still don't know what is going to happen with Carlo Ancelotti's future at Real Madrid. The recent bad results have put the manager's future in doubt ahead of next season.

The two-leg tie against Liverpool in the Champions League could define the Italian coach's destiny as, if they lose, he could leave the side for the 2023-24 season.

Faced with this situation, the board have started to weigh up different replacements and five big names have apeared on the table. Four of them are 'in house', the the other has never managed in Spain.

According to 'Relevo', Raul Gonzalez (Real Madrid academy coach), Alvaro Arbeloa (Madrid academy), Xabi Alonso (Bayer everkusen) and Zinedine Zidane are the first on the 'meregue' list.

The fifth who fits the bill is none other than Thomas Tuchel, who has not got back into work since he left Chelsea and could take the reigns of such a big side such as Real Madrid in a near future. His CV puts him in the mix as one of the favourites.

We'll have to wait and see what happens with Ancelotti first before starting to reaching conclusions over the latest UEFA Champions League winner's future.
