19 Year old Kelleher has enjoyed a whirlwind rise at the Merseyside club over the last five months. And now, after having signed a long term contract extension in August, the youngster has been included in Jurgen Klopp's squad for the very first competitive fixture.
The Irishman appeared in the club's international champions cup matches against Manchester City and Manchester United in the summer; the latter of which was in front of a 107,000 capacity crowd in Michigan, which Liverpool won 4-1.
Kelleher spoke to 'Liverpool Tv' after the memorable pre-season tour with the first team, saying: "'It's been crazy, playing the Man City and Man U games. I wasn't expecting to play really, but to get the opportunity was just unbelievable. It was amazing, seeing all the crowd and stuff. I really enjoyed it. I trained with them (the senior side) last year but to actually play this year has been crazy. It's been unreal."
The youngster continued: "I've been happy, I think I've done well. Every day we train hard with the 'keepers, we all push each other to do our best every day and I think that's all you can do really, do your best, so I've been happy."
Keeper Kelleher is vying with Kamil Grabara to be Liverpool's third choice stopper, behind more experienced head Mignolet and Alisson, and so he has yet to make a senior appearance for the club.
A victory for Liverpool would see Jurgen Klopp's side sit on the brink of qualification for the knockout rounds of the Champions League, with an overall tally of nine points. The 'Reds' currently lead Group C by a point from second placed PSG.
