Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has contacted the other Premier League captains to organise a coronavirus fund, which could contribute millions of euros to the English health system (NHS).
Premier League players were criticised on Thursday by Health Secretary Matt Hancock for not taking part in the salary reduction that other clubs have undertaken.
Although in the end the salary reduction will be inevitable, Henderson has wanted to increase support by generating a financial fund to which donations can be made to help the health workers.
The Guardian reported that banks have already been contacted to see how donations and the money raised can be managed.
The Guardian said that Henderson was not happy that his gesture was made public before it could be properly promoted. In any case, it is a gesture that will certainly help enormously a health system that, as in other countries, is working from sunrise to sunset against COVID-19.
